GC run of LTER gas samples, sequence LTER20240913S11BGC Vials submitted in trays out of order as follows: …115, 116, 120, 117, 118, 119, 121, 122, 123, 124, 128, 125, 126, 127, 132, 139, 142, 129, 136, 135, 138, 140, 131, 134, 137, 144, 143, 130, 141, 145, 146, 171, 172, 149, 150, 167, 168, 153, 154, 163, 164, 157, 158, 159, 160, 161, 162, 155, 156, 165, 166, 151, 152, 169, 170, 147, 148, 173, 174, 175, 176, 177, 178, 179, 184, 180, 181, 182, 183, 185, 188, 187, 186, 189, 192, 191, 190, 193, 194, 195, 196…. All vials run sequentially on GC. Looked at field sheets - appears that vials up to 171/172 were likely sampled in proper order, and just jumbled up on trays. It is possible vials sampled in correct order after 172, but there are some field sheet issues with those, along with being submitted out of order.

SWFG2024071607180722S24S25S26AGC sequence saw GC reboot and restart around sample vial 194 of the “B” round (N2O/CO2 analysis). N2O peak cut off and did not integrate. After sequence completion, re-ran sample group vials 191-194 under sequence name SWFG2024071607180722S24S25S26AGC_B. Results fairly consistant, and now have N2O data for sample vial 194.

Running 3 series of GLBRC gas samples. Notes on Series 6 from Techs - Vials 1-40 swapped, i.e. vials 1-20 are actually vials 21-40 regarding site sampling. Series 7 no notes. Series 8 - a number of vials out of order. All samples run in numerical order. Series 8 vial order in trays: 1-40 ok, then 41, 42, 59, 60, 45, 46, 55, 56, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 47, 48, 57, 58, 43, 44, 61, 62, 63,…

SWFG Gas sampling notes: Series 10, Vials 1 and 25 swapped at sampling time - noted on field sheet and run on GC in that order (i.e. 25, 2, 3, 4, 5… 24, 1, 26, 27, etc.) Elias’ previous samplings of Blocks 2 & 4 may have been completed in opposite order of sheet - moving west to east instead of east to west in each instance. He corrected that on series 11 sampling. Will have to confirm, but mirrored samplings may have occurred on series 8 and 9.

GLBRC Series 4 vials. Note from techs that vials 1 and 21 were swapped (i.e. 21, 2, 3, 4, 5…20, 1, 22, 23, etc.). Still run on GC in consecutive order (1, 2, 3, etc…)

First LTAR gas chamber sampling run on the GC. All samples run in numerical order. Rack order as submitted by techs had these two issues: vials 98 and 101 were swapped, and vials 135 and 131 were swapped. (Meaning order submitted was …96,97,101,99,100,98,102… and …129,130,135,132,133,134,131,136…. respectively.)

LTER20240306S17 GC run notes: Vial 20 broke in transport. Dave refilled vial with N2 and ran in series - should have blank results for vial 20. All samples run in numerical order, though received vials 163 and 164 swapped in tech’s sample tray.

Vial error on BCSE Series 20 run. Lost nitrous oxide values for vial 66, but was able to continue run uninterrupted otherwise. Setup a separate run that just included a blank vial and vial 66. Transferred those N2O values to the BCSE Series 20 run results for vial 66. CO2 values slightly different, but kept the original values. Rerun saved under same name with a “-A” added at the end of directory/filename.

Found an error in naming a recent run. January, 2024 collection and run for BCSE samples was recorded as Series 18, when it should have been Series 19. This has been corrected in the data file storage on BenGC computer. Updated data directory name to \BCSE20240110S19BGC 2024-01-10 13-09-04. Excel results file found in that folder was also corrected, changing all S18 samples to S19. File sent to Kevin for approval while error corrections are fresh in our minds…

LTER Series 12 (10/06/2023) GC analysis notes: All vials run in numerical order. Vials 16 and 14 switched in sampling tray. Vials 73 and 93 switched in sampling tray. Ambient 2 vial broke - replaced with a blank sample (N2). During run second pass, vial #17 at position 31, the analysis paused with the vial lost from the autosampler rack (found on chair). Vial replaced and analysis started back up - GC made CO2 injection and continued on with the run.
