Raised tower 2 to a height of 2.25cm above ground level. Will need to raise both towers on June 30 (next Monday). Checked sensor wires on tower 2. Did not get to RH sensor on Tower 1 (not reading).

I added the heat flux plates to the tower 2 program.

Calibration coefficients and locations: on V116, 2H/2L mulitiplier 44.075 (east of tower), 3H/3L multiplier 37.262 (north of tower), 4H/4L muliplier 44.072 (south of tower). 1” below surface.

I updated the PAR sensor calibration to 6.5 uA/ (1000 umol/s/m^2)

Installed three heat flux plates (from Jiquan) at BAU2 field 1, tower 2. All on the V116, 2H/2L mulitiplier 44.075 (east of tower), 3H/3L multiplier 37.262 (north of tower), 4H/4L muliplier 44.072 (south of tower). 1” below surface.

Mounted raingage to the horizontal bar on Tower 1 at approximately 1:30PM. Tower 2 is similar and Jiquan is also mounting on the instrument bar.

Removed ASP EC tower 1 raingage from remote tpost to horizontal bar on the tower (as is tower 2). I sent Jiquan a message and he agrees with the rain gage placement.

at 9:!5 EDT Kevin removed the ground sensors and rain gauge from tower 1 for fertilization. He disconnected the P1 wire from the rain gauge before moving the gauge so that it does not register additional tips.

sensors were re-installed at 15:30.

I mistakenly connected the raingauge to P2 on Tower 1 when we lowered the crossarm on 2025-05-12. So there the rainfall info is missing since then.

I moved the connection to P1 this morning.

replaced the CR1000x on tower 2 with an older one from REX. Upgraded to OS 8.02.01. Watchdog errors are much reduced. Still see an occasional one, but about the same rate as tower 1.

The tower 2 issue appears to be caused by the SDI12 subsystem.

I moved the EC100 power to the battery power block on the DIN rail and disconnected the power from the 12V and Ground ports from the datalogger. This reduced the amount of buzzing from the IRGASON and seems to eliminate the watchdog errors.

I detached the C3 connection to the CS650 sensors and all of the power lines to both the HYGROVUE and the CS650’s. Then added the power back one at a time. No watchdog errors as long as no SDI12 sensor was attached. I did not test the HYGROVUE with the C1 connection detached but if it had power it produced watchdog errors. oonnecting a CS650 with power to the C3 port resulted in watchdog errors for each of the CS650 sensors. I was able to set the addresses yesterday in between the crashes. So I think the communication is working.

On Tower 2 all the CS650 probes had an SDI12 address of 0.

  • Connected the CPI ports of the VOLT116 to the datalogger so it can read from the VOLT116.
  • Connected the data line block from the DIN block to C3 on the logger
  • Updated the SDI12 addresses of the sensors to match the last digit of the serial number 4, 5, 6
  • Updated the SDI12 addresses in the program to match the addresses on the CS650 sensors
  • Updated the SDI12 address of the HYGROVUE sensor in the program.

Added a -1 multiplier to the PAR sensor reading until we reverse the leads again.

Tower 2 datalogger is crashing about every 30 seconds. Both with the flux tower 1 program and with the flux tower 2 program, so i don’t think it’s a programming error. Will check in the morning.

Tower 1 was raised to ten feet at 3PM to allow planting to occur over the weekend. Pulled back all CS650, 107s, and flux plates. For Tower 2 all sensors now connected except flux plates. Power will be added next week.

Trenched in power for M2,3,4 and L1,2 today. At the M4 reference, was only able to trench maybe 6inches. KK/DW

Installed bases on BAU to the south of ASP tower. Coordinates agreed upon by Brook and double checked by Josh D. Used new 24” auger to excavate hole for base. Filled with 6 bags of concrete after adding two bags of sand and three bags of gravel. KK/DW

Checked rain gage. Voltage correct at both ends. Cleaned tipping area of thick spider web which may have prevented tipping. Tipped a few times to check, need to delete.

LTAR tower 1: Hygrovue10 now connected to C1. All instruments now reading though 107s and CS650s not in ground. Will check to see if we can bury the CS107s and CS650s. At least the 650s….

Flux tower battery finally died. I connected the solar pannel and it is charging. The morningstart webapp shows a Current Limiting Alarm, but no faults. Lights are blinking green so far.

After starting the CR1000x had trouble getting an ip address. Possibly due to the router taking longer to start up and the CR1000x shutting down it’s ethernet port after 1 minute. I changed the setting to keep the ethernet port running.

I poured the equivalent of 1 inch of rainfall through the raingauge and got pretty close to 100 tips. So I think the gauge is calibrated in english units. I’ve adjusted the program.
