Checked Interactions/ Switchgrass Biodiversity soil moisture probes. I have 3 probes working in each logger. Each logger had one probe that did not respond to a direct connection with the A200. The missing probes are

  • north logger: address 0 depth 10
  • east logger: address 7 depth 10
  • middle logger: address 5 depth 10
  • south logger: address 5 depth 10

interactions north logger (pakbus 182) bad ground on probes 1 and 2, no response from probe 0. I left probe 0 on channel 2.

Interactions south logger 183. Found loose connection on probe 4. I moved probe 7 and 4 together onto C3. No response from probe 5 and 6.

Phil and Nick decided to keep the original stand of switchgrass on the west end of Plot 6 and 8 because several mesocosm bases are still intact in this area. All other areas sprayed by Chris and Todd yesterday. The monolith areas were also sprayed (very dense weeds and some switchgrass) they will need some cleaning up before replanting.

KK and DW reinstalled episodic fixation experiment sensors at either 10cm or 25cm depths. Removing cables and sensors would be difficult, so this was a way that we can use sensors in a new project. Plot 3 constant moisture cable cut. We will GPS points and send to Sven with proper sensor address.

Kevin/Dave/Ethan/Joe pulled several of the mesocosm bases on the interaction plots 3 and 8. In plot 8, we pulled the 13CO2 and 15N2 bases and left the control and an unusede base intact. From north to south base use was, did not use, control, 13CO2, 15N2, 15N2, 15N2.

Boxes were set 7.5\’ from the west edge and start 12.5 m to the south of the north plot edge when we installed in 2018. For plot three we left only the base we used for testing (no 15N2 or 13CO2). We removed the control base because it had dangerous tabs protruding from the base top. From north to south, we had the following bases. Testing, 15N2 (x2 doses), 13CO2, 15N2, 15N2, control.

Again all boxes were installed on the west edge, 7.5\’ into the plot, and 12.5m south of the north end. All bases remain, and were unused in plot 6. We will GPS and add to maps (Hsun Yi). Also still need to find sensors used for shelters and reinsert/gps.

Reinstalled G1 chambers on BCSE. G1-3 has metal barrier for detection limit (along with G5-6). Joe fertilized G1 today. Still need to repair clamps on G1-2. Had an issue with MICOS today. Important to tell people to shutdown system by exiting program not by shutting off power. Restarted after computer ran scan. All chamber measurements are on gashog chamber data. Mesocosm testing for airtight seal commenced today. Carmella, Sarah, Kevin, and Dave added bulkhead fittings etc. Testing with SF6.

checked and removed non-responsive CS650 probes from the interactions plots loggers. There were 5 bad probes.
